Litha: Light Like the Sun

editorial

by Melanie Fire Salamander

We planned a political issue for this paper. But as the time came closer, it became clear that our writers by and large were fighting shy of politics. They yearned for other subjects. Sometimes it's time to stand against the crowd, but for this issue we gave our writers their heads.

Given rein, two of them wrote about place. Catherine spoke about sliding innocuously into her new neighborhood -- how to be pagan yet low-key in Woodinville, Washington, under the guise of a gardener and baker. Thea roamed farther, checking out how Voudou hits paganism with a splash for a New Orleans midsummer. Bestia honored Litha as the height of the God's energy, connecting with the God in his sexual mode. Sylvana kept us current with a review. And we brought you as always Thea's fine astrological column and Genevieve's look at current pagan music.

This issue, we give you a little light reading for summertime, in the light of the God's sun... who wants to be serious at midsummer?
