Spells of the Zodiac: Gemini

column

by Bryanny FairRaven

Zodiac spells are very useful in planning long-range goals and magicks, because each astrological sign is associated with certain energies and properties. By tapping these energies, we can call down their magicks, blend them with our own unique energy and send them forth to manifest a spell.

The most appropriate sign to work with in casting spells related to speech and communication, memory, intelligence and the mind, as well as teaching and learning, is Gemini. Because of its astrological association to Mercury, this sign's magickal properties can be used to enhance communication and speech and improve or heal anything related to the mind, as well as for educational and travel-related spellcraft.

Gemini, the twins, is the third sign of the zodiac and was represented by the ancients as two children. The Greeks knew the twins as Castor and Pollux, although the Chaldeans thought of them as the Great Twins (human or animal is not known). The Arabs called them the Twin Peacocks.

Gemini rules from May 22 to June 21. Its ruling planet is Mercury, its element air, its deities Hermes, Mercury and Merlin. Its color is green or orange, and its season is spring and summer.

Gemini Magick

If you were born under the sign of Gemini, then you can perform this ritual at any time of the year. For those not born under Gemini, this ritual is best performed in spring or summer, or if time is of the essence during the full phase of the moon.

Instructions

Carve your name at the lower end of the candle.

Using Krazy Glue, glue the stone above your name. If for some reason this does not work, carve a small hole in the candle and fit the stone snugly inside. Put a drop of Krazy Glue under the stone to hold in place. (If it is impossible for you to obtain any of the above stones, obtain a small clear quartz crystal, scrub clean, rub with lemon juice and use this.)

Combine the herb and oil, and with your fingers carefully rub the oily herb over the candle, making sure to stop right above the area where the stone is embedded.

Ritual

A note on time: If you are a Gemini, you can perform this ritual at any time of the year or moon phase. If you are not a Gemini, this ritual is best done during spring or summer and on the night of the Full Moon.

To perform the ritual:

As you chant, you will begin to create what is called the cone of power, which is the energy you are building in order to release and charge the spell. Some people shake and tremble as the cone of power begins to build. Others dance and sway back and forth. As you chant, the energy builds. Once you cannot hold the energy in any longer, when you feel you will explode from the shaking, swaying, dancing, jumping or twirling, or however you have raised the energy, release it. Hold out your arms, feel the energy coursing through your body, flowing up your legs, past your chest, into your arms and out your hands. Some people scream out their desire at this point. Some say a key word. Others moan as the energy courses through and flows out to help manifest the spell. In your mind, see yourself as you wish to be, or what it is you wish to change or draw to yourself. In this case, the ritual can be used to heal the mind or problems related to the mind, such as a faulty memory. It can bring speed to healing treatments already begun and assistance in passing tests (for those of you who are students).

Once you have sent out the energy, take a few moments to ground and center. Open the circle if you have cast one.

Allow the candle to burn for about 15 minutes, then snuff it out. Light the candle each day, and allow it to burn for approximately 15 minutes each time. Once the candle burns down to the stone's level, the ritual has been finished. Bury the base of the candle, and keep the stone with you as a charged amulet. Your spell should manifest within a full lunar cycle. If not, consult an oracle before trying the spell again.
