Ahhh... Beltaine! My favorite pagan celebration! Opening this seventh year of Widdershins publication, it signifies the coming of summer, with warm golden days and dark nights filled with stars and sweet blossom-scented breezes. Bonfire parties at the beach, dancing in drumming circles and doing magick under the full moon, beneath a thousand-year-old tree, listening to the frogs' deep song and the crickets calling for their own brand of cricket love!
We too sense the call of this most sexual of pagan holidays... feeling the urge to pair up with a lover, bonding and frolicking in the summer sun. Picnicking in the grass and making love in the hot summer nights; exploring love and sex anew, whether with your current partner or a new one; these things are on the minds of many of us at this time of year.
In the spirit of Beltaine, we present articles about the fertile bounty of spring and Tantric and sex magick rituals and meditations, and Pan gives his perspective on humans and sex.
We also focus on a different sort of creativity with some magickal and practical ways to create more prosperity and abundance in your life. While doing that, one might consider: Is it okay to charge money to teach the Craft? One witch answers that question, and another talks about the difficulties of paying the rent.
We provide as well reviews of the OTO (Ordo Templi Orientis)'s Rite of Jupiter and the Aquarian Tabernacle Church's Spring Mysteries Festival, and more. So enjoy the spring as the wheel turns yet again to the heat of summer. Open your hearts and minds, and come along and explore with us, and don't forget to enjoy the heat of the Beltaine fires, both inner and outer! All acts of love and pleasure are Her rituals!
