Rosenthal, Ed, ed. Hemp Today. (1994) Oakland, CA: Quick American Archives. A readable yet well- documented overview of the varied uses of hemp.
Herer, Jack. The Emperor Wears No Clothes. (1990) Van Nuys, CA: HEMP publishing. An absolute mishmash of unprofessionally organized yet thought-provoking research on the uses and history of hemp, including marijuana prohibition. This is the book that started it all!
Van der Werf, Hayo. Crop Physiology of Fibre Hemp. (1995) Amsterdam: IHA Books. A very technical doctoral thesis on the responses of hemp to various growing conditions, as well as its needs and fiber yields.

Magazines
Journal of the International Hemp Association. The only true scientific journal dedicated to hemp research. An excellent publication featuring much of the newest serious research.
Hempworld. Also a very good magazine, this one is more diverse, with articles of interest to the wholesaler and manufacturer as well as general information about political trends in hemp worldwide and coverage of symposia and of new products and processes.
Hemp Times. This magazine offers glossy pages and a more populist approach. It fills the gap between the "in" crowd and the lay person who is just becoming aware of hemp.

Newsgroups
alt.hemp, alt.hemp.recreational, alt.industrial. Very poor signal-to- noise ratio, spam and slurs abound along with the occasional plea for research, call for articles or bong design binary. Occasional worthwhile news among the flames and calls to repentance.
