Interfaith Alliance Announces Vision
On December 10, as part of a National Day of Action for Welfare/Workfare Justice, the Interfaith Alliance of Washington State presented its "Vision for a Civil Society." The Interfaith Alliance is a coalition of concerned people of faith who have joined together to promote deeply held principles of compassion, tolerance, justice and civility in public debate. (The Interfaith Alliance is not to be confused with the Interfaith Council, over which the Aquarian Tabernacle Church's Pete Pathfinder recently presided.) The alliance includes Wiccan and Druid members as well as members of such faiths as Christian, Jewish, Native American, Taoist and Buddhist.
The Vision for a Civil Society, a rebuttal to the religious right, promotes acceptance of religious pluralism, separation of church and state, respect for diversity in balance with community needs and preservation of the earth. As part of that vision, the Interfaith Alliance has put forward positions stressing tolerance and charity on welfare, education, health care, economic justice and opportunity, civil justice and human rights, the environment, sanctity of life and a new version of "Family values," in which both traditional and nontraditional families are valued.

As You Like It Library Moving
The As You Like It Library will be moving to a new location after 22 years in the Odd Fellows Building. We will be effecting the move itself during the month of December, and will be open again by Jan. 1, 1998. The library will remain open at its current location as long as possible until the actual move.
Our new location will be, as of Jan. 1, 1998: 1000 E. Madison / Seattle, WA 98122
We will be located not far from the current location, across the street from IHOP and Seattle University on Capitol Hill.
If, by any chance you would like to thank the Odd Fellows Building for putting up with us for the last 22 years, the folks at Widdershins for giving us promotional space in their rockin' good publication and the many people who over the past 36 years have given their time, energy, and love to make the AYLI a success. Finally, a HUMUNGOUS thanks to the "Invisibles" for setting this all up and orchestrating it so masterfully and effortlessly.
Stop by Jan 1 to check out our expanded facilities and services!
