Letters to the Editors

"MOONDRAGON MUSINGS"

We would like to thank everyone for their attendance at the C.O.G. Yule celebration and Mr. Cardone for his honest opinions, expressed in the Imbolc issue of Widdershins. We were gratified he enjoyed the evening, particularly the ritual.

We believe that, while all rituals are intended to be transformative, public rituals, especially Sabbat rituals, are also celebratory. Therefore, in our ritual, we emphasized joyful celebration over the raising of power.

Any public ritual draws people from all levels of experience, from Elders with years of Coven experience to Solitaries, Novices and curious Seekers. Not everyone who attends is experienced or comfortable raising large amounts of magickal energy, nor should they be exposed to it without knowledge or consent.

Because of this, our intent was to keep it low-key. As our High Priest pointed out in his introduction to the ritual, we deliberately kept the battle between the Oak and Holly Kings representative rather than violent.

In our tradition of the Craft, we always try and involve everyone in the ceremony. This allows us to draw the group together and raise power safely, gently and inoffensively.

We hope that Mr. Cardone and his family will continue to attend other public rituals, and hope that he continues to have as good a time as he did at Yule.

Sincerely,

The members of Moondragon Coven

"THE FEY"

Confidential to Jana Hollingsworth,

We appreciated your clever, amusing and very valid letter about the spelling of "Fey" versus "Fay". The problem being; it seems as if the Fey have taken a liking to the letter, they thought it was for them, and they haven't returned it as of press time.

We really wanted to print it, but to answer your question as best I remember it: We spell it "Fey" because they are "different" (from us humans) and strange or weird. Plus we want to differentiate between them and the "airy fairy" depictions people think of due to the 'Tinkerbelle syndrome." So, I'm sorry if this offends your sensitive literary sensibilities, but we don't plan to change any time soon. Again thank you for the great letter and for the compliments! Please write anytime, we appreciate your point of view!

Regards, Sylvana (and the Fey)
