by Eve M. Wilkerson
With great sorrow, I must announce the passing of James Frederick MacLean, a.k.a. Jamie MacLean. A long-time resident of Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula, Jamie died in an accident near Port Angeles on February 9, 1996. He was 60 years old, survived by three children, three wives and many, many friends. He will be greatly missed.
Jamie MacLean first brought himself to my attention in 1984, when he wrote to Panegyria, the newsletter I worked on at the time. During the period of our acquaintance, he wrote for several pagan newsletters, authoring articles on a wide variety of subjects. Many of us will remember Jamie for his educated opinions and eloquent writing. At the time of his death, he was working on a book that may yet see publication; time will tell. He also contributed significantly to the production of several festivals, particularly the first few Dionysia festivals.
Store Closes
We regret to announce that the bookstore Widdershins in Bellingham has closed its doors. We are sure it will be missed by the community. The owner Nora Cedar has been having health problems and must devote her energy to being well. We wish her renewed health and happiness.
Neophyte Notes No More
The writer Lethe is discontinuing the column "Neophyte Notes."

Thank You for a Great Year!
I want to say thank you to all of you who helped make our first eight issues of Widdershins such a great success. It has been a long year, and we have all worked hard to bring Widdershins to the pagan community. Thanks go to Harold S. Henry, Greg Gallacci, Wülfgar Gregarsson, NightOwl, Dedric, Lethe and A. Camille, and a special thank you to Miriam for her hard work and dedication (and staying up all night many times to get the paper done on time!).
Thank you, too, to Sylvana, without whom Widdershins would not be.
And, of course, thanks to all our wonderful readers! Without you, all our work would be pointless.
Happy Birthday!
To the Sylvan Grove members and friends who had Pisces birthdays during February and March: Amanda, Erika, Ian, Jim, Maren, Sharma and Wade. Happy birthday, and may the gods smile upon you!
