These events happen all the time in everyday life. Even times that do not seem to be taxing energetically, such as a visit with a member of your family, may be. I sometimes find myself tense and stressed out from holding myself from falling into my role in the family. I strive not to act out in that way, and it's very difficult, even though the visit may be essentially very pleasant.
Other times, you might want or need healing include getting fired from your job; getting bad news; a death in your family, either blood or chosen; the end of a relationship, either romantic or friendship; a fight or argument with someone; a close call of any kind that scared you; and any other event that made you feel tense, afraid, nervous or hurt. When you find you need healing, the following is a ritual you might adapt.
First, set aside some time for yourself where you don't have to contend with the phone, visitors or other distractions. Make sure and give yourself at least an hour or more to relax, meditate and do your healing ritual.
Begin by casting your magickal circle as you ordinarily would, except include your bathroom. You may want to include your entire abode in your circle, depending on where you might want to lie down; doing so is fine.
Invoke the elements, appealing to them especially for their aid in healing and cleansing, saying something like, "Fire of consumption, please enter my circle and consume the pain that debilitates me," or "Water, please join my circle to wash me clean again."
Light candles, burn incense and make the ritual as elaborate as you like. Invoke the god and goddess of your choice, paying special attention to ask for their healing and guidance. When you are finished with your invocation, fill your tub with a healing bath. This is a component of the ritual, so add ingredients to the bath that will make it a purifying energetic bath as well as cleansing you physically. Add some colored healing bath salts, or some healing herbs such as rosemary, lavender, hops or rose petals. (For more ideas, look up healing in your tables of correspondence.) You may combine these to your liking, thinking about the healing, cleansing effect of the herbs on your energy as you add them. You may say something such as, "Herbs of the earth, cleanse and heal me, your child," or something else that you find meaningful.
When soaking in the bath, ground and center yourself well, then meditate on your pain, your discomfort. Open yourself to the healing by going into the pain and allowing yourself to experience it deeply. Grieve about the situation that created the pain; cry if you can; allow your body to release that energy and allow it to flow out of you, down your grounding cord or roots into the earth, where it will be neutralized. Allow it to flow out of your body with each breath.
You may also convey pain out of your body as you cleanse it, by scrubbing each part announcing something like, "I purge each part of me of the pain and grief that has been present; each part of me is clear and whole; as I cleanse the physical, so goes the astral, clean as new." Visualize as you scrub, seeing the energy and your physical body being clean, clear and strong.
When you are finished doing this, dry off and apply a lightly scented oil or lotion to your body, blessing each part as you go, saying something like, "I love my powerful arms, my arms that allow me to work for the gods. I love my hands that help me to hold onto life. I love my big belly created from the abundance of the Goddess. I love my mighty thighs that support me. I love my bold feet that carry me forward on the path of the gods," and so forth.
Next, don a ritual robe or a special garment, something you have set aside for this. Then lie down with candles and incense burning inside your circle and declare, "I offer up this body for cleansing, purification and healing. There is no part of me that is not the Goddess; there is no part of me that is not the God. I love each and every part of myself as I love the Lord and Lady. So mote it be, and so it is."
When you are finished with your declaration, draw a wee bit of bathwater with some herbs into a small container to put on your altar to represent the healing energy of your ritual. Place it there knowing it will continue to disperse its healing energy into the future.
Next, consume a special small meal of cakes and wine, or your version of them; treat yourself to something that you really like, a pastry and milk or something that helps you feel safe and secure and loved.
Finally, close your circle, taking time to acknowledge yourself for this process and to give thanks to the elements and the God and Goddess. Close by draining the bath and taking up the circle.
Be aware that this is an intensely powerful rite and there may be residual effects. You might feel a bit sad or depressed for a day or two; you may get a bit of a cold or the flu as your body processes the healing energy. Don't be surprised if memories surface for a week or so, and if they do - just acknowledge them and move on. Allow yourself to heal completely, knowing that it will take a little time. Be good to yourself; treat yourself as the god or goddess that you are.
