Counting Your Blessings this Witches' Thanksgiving

Mabon -- also known as the Witches' Thanksgiving -- is here again. What will you give thanks for this year? After seeing the unbelievable devastation on our Gulf Coast by Katrina, I'm pretty damn thankful just to have my family intact and a roof over my head. Along with my thanks to the Goddess for the bounty she has given me will be a prayer for those who have less, and a request that She remind me to continue sharing when the news media quits reminding me.

The theme for this issue of Widdershins is pagan partnerships, and our wonderful authors have risen to the occasion with interesting articles such as Tasha Lower's, which answers the question, "Can you marry a muggle?" (For any readers unfamiliar with Harry Potter, a muggle is a non-magickal person.)

Bestia Mortale heats up the fall with his hot little piece about breaking up. He's the only author I've read in these pages that can turn me on with something as depressing as breaking up. Bless him.

Other contributions rounding out this issue: An article about the misunderstood and maligned god Loki, by Kevin Filan; Barbara Stoner's article about her recent trip to Turkey in search of Artemis; and a helpful piece from Anda Powers about finding and vetting pagan clergy. Columnist Genevieve Williams (Earth Tones) offers seasonally appropriate suggestions for music, and Anita (As Above, So Below) suggests working with our shadow self this Mabon.

As the days get shorter and cooler, I hope that Widdershins will help brighten your day and warm your heart with by making you smile as you read. Happy Mabon.
